BACKGROUND

Large scale simulation games have been used across a range of sectors from the military to finance to develop core leadership and management skills, testing individuals and teams how they respond to complex scenarios and change.

entrusted is a large scale hospital simulation game-a-thon where the functions of an NHS Trust and roles within in it are performed by its many participants. Each participant plays a role of a key decision maker within a fictional NHS hospital. FAQs

Is there any preparation needed before the event?

Yes, but only a little. Before the event we will need to know a little bit about you so we can choose a role for you that will play to your strengths. To do this we’ll send a short questionnaire that we will use to support this process.

Do I have to have worked in healthcare to participate?

Absolutely not! Hospitals benefit from being staffed by people from a huge range of backgrounds and we want our fictional hospital to be exactly the same. You will not be expected to know anything at all about how a hospital works.

Will I need to attend the whole session or can I just do part of it?

On this occasion this is a complete experience. If you’d like to participate in any part of it, you will need to be available for the full session. To get the most of the experience it is essential that all [Delegates/Participants/Players] are committed to being available for the full period

Do I need to have played a lot of games before?

Nope! You don’t need to have played many games at all. What is important is that you are comfortable with the idea of playing to the structure of a set of rules.

Will I need to know all the rules to participate?

No no, we’ve got you covered! On the evening of the 28th we are going to run a number of orientation briefings explaining broadly what you need to know and to do. For much of that evening there will be plenty of opportunity to practice if you’d like to! On the day we will have a set of experienced controllers who will be available to support you. If you are ever unsure there will always be someone available to ask for help.
